Overview As Multifamily-Construction Director, you will oversee regional construction activities, guiding project management and field teams while coordinating with Development, Design, Purchasing and Property Management. You drive site quality, safety, budgets and schedules to ensure timely turnover of units. This role sits at a Fortune 500 company within a growing DHI Communities division, offering influence over major multifamily projects and value engineering opportunities.

Responsibilities- Supervise regional construction personnel and activity
- Ensure construction adheres to code, drawings, and contracted scope
- Assist in recruiting and developing project management and field staff
- Provide cost estimates during land due diligence and pre-construction
- Review drawings and identify value engineering opportunities
- Advise on bidding, buy-out, and subcontractor selections
- Collaborate with Purchasing to optimize estimating and bidding for profitability
- Oversee budget maintenance and monthly reviews
- Advise on subcontractor performance and non-performing replacements
- Monitor schedules with Scheduling Team to minimize timelines
- Visit sites to evaluate construction performance
- Ensure quality control, safety, SWPPP, and FHA/ADA compliance
- Oversee smooth turnover of units to Property Management
- Evaluate and approve change orders
- Handle escalated design, field, and subcontractor issues
- Define contract scopes for completeness and accuracy
- Travel as needed
Key requirements- High school diploma or GED
- Seven years or more of related construction experience
- Must have a vehicle and valid driver's license
- Basic knowledge of budgeting and financial matters
- Proficiency with MS Office and email
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25
