Job description

We are seeking an experienced Automation Maintenance Technician to join a growing manufacturing operation. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of an established company investing heavily in its facility, equipment, and employees. This position is primarily focused on industrial electrical systems, automation, and controls, with an emphasis on troubleshooting and maintaining PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment. As part of a smaller maintenance department, this individual will also assist with general equipment maintenance across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. The ideal candidate is technically strong in automation and electrical troubleshooting but enjoys working hands-on across different areas of maintenance. Key Responsibilities Industrial Electrical & Automation - Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair industrial electrical systems, automation equipment, and PLC-controlled machinery. - Interpret ladder logic and troubleshoot PLC programs, making modifications when necessary. - Identify and resolve issues involving industrial communication systems and control networks. - Troubleshoot electrical circuits ranging from 24V DC to 480V AC. - Maintain and repair motors, sensors, relays, contactors, VFDs, servo drives, starters, and other electrical components. - Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation. - Complete electrical panel wiring, component installations, and system testing. Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting - Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and respond to unexpected equipment breakdowns. - Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment issues. - Replace components, make mechanical adjustments, and perform general equipment repairs. - Investigate recurring equipment failures and help identify long-term solutions. - Assist with equipment upgrades, installations, modifications, and startup activities. - Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability, and overall efficiency. Team Collaboration & Production Support - Partner with production and engineering teams to minimize downtime and resolve equipment-related issues. - Provide hands-on assistance with various maintenance projects as needed. - Support fellow maintenance technicians with troubleshooting and repairs outside of your primary specialty. - Contribute technical knowledge and help strengthen the overall capabilities of the maintenance department. - Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and communicate equipment concerns. Required Qualifications - At least 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance, automation, industrial electrical work, or a similar manufacturing environment. - Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities. - Hands-on experience working with PLC-controlled machinery and interpreting ladder logic. - Understanding of industrial automation, electrical controls, and control systems. - Experience troubleshooting electrical systems from 24V DC through 480V AC. - Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. - General knowledge of mechanical maintenance and industrial equipment repair. - Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems. - Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative maintenance team. - Willingness to assist with a variety of maintenance responsibilities beyond electrical and automation work. - Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications - Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, or comparable PLC platforms. - Ability to make PLC and HMI program adjustments. - Knowledge of industrial networking, HMI, and SCADA systems. - Experience with servo motors, drives, and motion control systems. - Technical training, electrical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience. - Background in equipment reliability, root-cause analysis, or continuous improvement initiatives. - Experience assisting with new equipment installations, upgrades, and commissioning.
