Overview In this role you lead governance for acquired-company data, driving standards, ownership, and controls across migration, integration, and analytics enablement. You will coordinate with business, IT, and risk teams to ensure unstructured and structured data is accurate, secure, and compliant. You'll manage data estates for acquisitions, define quality gates, and enable trustworthy analytics. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role that shapes governance in a fast-changing, enterprise environment.

Responsibilities- Apply and adapt enterprise data governance frameworks to integration of acquired companies
- Embed governance into data migration, modernization, archival, and analytics initiatives
- Maintain a view of the full data estate for each acquisition across structured and unstructured content
- Catalog content by category, ownership, purpose, and disposition for integration planning
- Advise on content handling during migration, including moves, archiving, or preservation
- Assess unstructured content for regulated or sensitive material and define handling requirements
- Identify data owners and obtain approvals for data use, transformation, or sharing
- Manage approvals for external sharing and third-party access
- Identify data without ownership and drive through review or removal
- Classify data against retention requirements and define disposal timing
- Coordinate defensible disposal with hold statuses-suspend disposal if holds exist
- Collaborate with legal, risk, privacy, and security to enforce protection controls
- Monitor governance performance and produce executive dashboards and reports
- Lead cross-functional sessions to align transformation goals with governance
- Support source-to-target mapping, lineage, and data issue resolution during acquisitions
- Promote a data-driven culture and communicate governance value
- Identify opportunities to improve governance processes, automation, and repeatability

Key requirements- 6+ years in data governance, data transformation, or related roles
- Experience applying governance to migration, integration, archival, analytics, or large transformations
- Experience governing unstructured content alongside structured data
- Knowledge of records retention practices and defensible disposal
- Familiarity with legal hold and preservation obligations
- Experience with merger/acquisition technology and data integration preferred
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, ownership, stewardship, metadata, lineage, catalog and glossary
- Experience defining data quality rules, profiling, remediation, reconciliation, issue tracking, and readiness metrics
- Familiarity with governance technologies (data catalogs, metadata management, lineage, MDM, data quality tools)
- Knowledge of data protection, privacy, access controls, masking, retention, and policy controls
- Experience with professional standards retention/documentation in audit/tax/advisory or regulated settings
- Ability to partner with leaders, translate governance to practical requirements, and drive cross-functional alignment
- Strong project management, change management, stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and executive reporting skills
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; related certifications preferred
