Overview As Legal Counsel for Global Payments Solutions, you will guide legal and regulatory strategy across GPS products and services, from cash management to digital payments. You'll interpret laws, negotiate agreements, and advise leadership to enable growth while managing risk. You'll coordinate with outside counsel and internal teams to shape compliant, innovative payment solutions. This role sits at the intersection of law, technology, and financial infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and practical risk guidance.
Responsibilities- Analyze legal issues affecting GPS products and regulatory landscape
- Provide clear, actionable legal advice to business units and leadership
- Interpret laws from compliance and business risk perspectives
- Advise on cash management, treasury services, and digital payments including cross-border transfers
- Coordinate and supervise outside counsel and internal paralegals
- Advise on payment networks (Fedwire, CHIPS, SWIFT) and related infrastructures
- Support regulatory exams, investigations, and litigation
- Collaborate with compliance, risk, audit, and business partners to mitigate risks
- Contribute to innovative payment and treasury solutions including digital assets and blockchain initiatives
Key requirements- 6-12 years of law firm and/or in-house experience in payments or financial services
- Solid understanding of banking laws and regulations affecting cash management
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and organizational skills
- Clear written and verbal communication across all organizational levels
- Ability to manage high-volume, fast-paced work and adapt to change
- Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills
- Ability to balance risk and reward and act as strategic partner to clients
