Overview As Principal Engineer TL/M for Aviatrix PaaS, you will lead a small engineering team while contributing to hands-on design and code. You'll define architectures for complex distributed systems across Kubernetes and cloud platforms, aligning technical delivery with product priorities. You drive tradeoffs, shape long-term solutions, and mentor engineers to elevate technical excellence. This is a builder role that blends leadership with hands-on craft, in a fast-growing cloud security space with cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities- Define next-generation designs for distributed systems using Kubernetes and cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and contribute to code and architecture.
- Own end-to-end lifecycle of key PaaS features, breaking work into executable sub-projects for the team.
- Evaluate engineering tradeoffs and make data-driven decisions balancing velocity, quality, and scalability.
- Write and present design proposals and technical documentation for complex problems.
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineers; oversee hiring, career development, and performance.
- Contribute to interviewing and recruiting to attract top engineering talent.
- Partner with product management to translate business priorities into a technical roadmap.
- Foster accountability, technical excellence, diversity, equity, and respect within the team.
- Represent the team in cross-functional forums with engineering, product, and GTM teams.
Key requirements- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with large-scale distributed systems.
- 3+ years in engineering leadership roles with direct people management.
- Strong knowledge of Golang and building gRPC-based microservices.
- Deep experience with Kubernetes and cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Domain experience in network routing and network security.
- Experience designing and operating a PaaS/SaaS product at scale.
- Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, OS, and distributed systems.
- Strong API and system design abilities; ability to write clean, testable code.
- Proven ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; comfortable with distributed teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
