P&C Commercial - Loss Control Engineer

Overview

In this role you will provide commercial loss control consultation to a diverse client base, using data analysis to identify risk sources and cost drivers. You'll translate claims data and risk analyses into practical loss prevention recommendations and safety programs. You will work closely with clients, carriers and internal teams to implement action plans that improve loss ratios and premium levels. Your work will combine field assessments, regulatory standards, and industry benchmarks to shape tailored risk mitigation strategies. This role offers the opportunity to influence client safety programs and collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop client information on claims analysis, loss trends, and technical risk areas
  • Review and summarize client claims data for associates or clients
  • Provide loss prevention and risk analysis to improve loss ratios and premiums
  • Develop custom risk mitigation solutions and advise on safety management best practices
  • Communicate safety issues with clients verbally or in writing
  • Oversee insurance carrier activities on behalf of clients
  • Create models using industry formulas to illustrate loss control needs and trends
  • Compile data from on-site visits and reports to assess problems and needs
  • Prepare spreadsheets, graphics, charts, and diagrams for client presentations
  • Benchmark client performance against internal and industry standards
  • Write technical reports and recommendations using OSHA, ANSI, NFPA standards
  • Provide technical support to implement recommendations
  • Counsel clients and staff on technical issues
  • Pursue ongoing professional development
  • Develop/manage relationships with carriers and vendor partners
  • Support sales and service teams
  • Independently complete smaller loss control analyses and assist with complex projects
  • Deliver Loss Control Services including Industrial Hygiene, OSHA/Life Safety inspections, Fleet/DOT, Property Valuations, Fire Protection evaluations, and safety program audits
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 4+ years of related experience or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CSP, ARM, CRM, CPCU, CFPS, CIH, or CPE desirable or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Industry-specific software
  • Data analysis and interpretation
