Overview

As a Steel Truss Bridge Design Engineer, you will deliver customized structural designs for pedestrian and vehicular bridge projects. You will collaborate with in-house engineers, fabricators, and external consultants to integrate Contech products into site plans. You will perform structural analysis, develop drawings and calculations, and ensure fabrication aligns with design intent. This hands-on, cross-functional role offers engineering growth, exposure to fabrication on the shop floor, and opportunities to influence national bridge projects. You will contribute to our mission of delivering reliable, cost-effective site solutions for infrastructure needs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide project-specific design services and prepare drawings and calculations for Contech bridge products
  • Perform structural analysis of bridge elements including superstructures, foundations, and retaining walls
  • Collaborate with in-house engineers, CAD techs, sales/marketing, and external engineers
  • Offer technical support to Operations/Manufacturing to ensure proper fabrication
  • Coordinate with field sales and manufacturing to address design, manufacturing, and installation questions
  • Review others' design work for accuracy and inspect fabrication for adherence to drawings
  • Maintain engineering standards, policies, and procedures; assist in training programs
  • Develop technical papers and product literature; contribute to specifications and technical committees
  • Maintain civil/structural engineering knowledge through professional development
  • Occasional travel to job sites to provide technical support and evaluation
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • PE with minimum 2 years reviewing and sealing work
  • 6-10 years of experience in structural steel or bridge design
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and Excel
  • Experience with AUTOCAD, finite element analysis, and/or structural analysis software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
