Overview In this role, you will contribute to water, wastewater, and stormwater projects in BF&S's Indianapolis office, growing from design support to Professional Engineer responsibilities. You will perform technical design and calculations for facilities, pumping and distribution systems, and stormwater management, while collaborating with a cross-functional team. The position emphasizes practical problem solving, construction documentation, and professional development toward PE status. You will engage with clients and stakeholders, delivering clear, technically sound results in an outdoor-facing environmental setting.
Responsibilities- Complete technical design, engineering calculations, and communications for projects including treatment facilities, stormwater management, pump stations, and distribution/collection networks
- Collaborate with team members and work independently to address challenges and develop solutions
- Manage multiple tasks with timely delivery and adaptability
- Coordinate with technical staff to develop construction documents and specifications under supervision of a Professional Engineer
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- 0-4 years of relevant experience and FE exam passed
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Experience with modeling/design tools (WaterCad, Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis, ICPR, AutoCAD Civil 3D) encouraged but not required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder interactions
