Overview As a Railway Engineer, you contribute to planning and design for transit, industrial, freight, and passenger rail projects within Stantec's Transit & Rail team. You will work on multi-disciplinary designs from concept to bid, collaborating with senior engineers to shape transportation infrastructure. The role focuses on delivering safe, efficient, and resilient railway solutions that benefit communities. Responsibilities- Perform engineering design tasks and produce drawings, reports, and presentations for regulatory and funding agencies
- Develop designs via sketches, 3D models, diagrams, and other visual formats
- Prepare and revise design documentation including site plans, profiles, grading, and details
- Collaborate to define project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule
- Prepare designs from Concept to Issued for Bid with estimates and construction specs
- Participate in client meetings and coordinate with various stakeholders
- Coordinate activities between disciplines and departments
- Prepare feasibility studies including environmental assessments and data assembly
- Monitor progress, inspect sites, and verify calculations and placements
Key requirements- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience with railway engineering/design ( 5 years)
- Proficiency in MicroStation V8i, InRoads, OpenRail
- Knowledge of AREMA, Class I Railroad, and agency design standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
