Overview As a Solutions Engineer you are a senior technical expert supporting C Spire Business Technology sales, translating business and technical requirements into scalable network, cloud, and managed services solutions. You own technical discovery and design for complex environments, ensuring solutions are sound and implementation-ready. You collaborate across sales, engineering, and operations to deliver credible guidance and drive successful customer outcomes. This role blends deep technical work with customer-facing consulting to shape the portfolio and enable growth.

Responsibilities- Partner with Sales and customers to translate objectives into technology solutions
- Design managed cloud, network, DIA, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi, VoIP/SIP for multi-site customers
- Develop advanced network designs: Ethernet, fiber optics, MPLS, TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
- Design cloud and on-premise services (HaaS, SaaS, virtualization) aligned to requirements
- Conduct site surveys and technical assessments to validate feasibility and risks
- Create implementation-ready specifications, topology diagrams, and documentation
- Provide technical consultations and product demos across the sales lifecycle
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth transition from opportunity to delivery
- Build trusted relationships with customers, partners, and teams with credible technical guidance
- Mentor junior solutions engineers and contribute to product development
- Represent C Spire at customer meetings and industry events
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field
- Minimum five years in telecommunications, IT, network or cloud engineering, or related field
- Experience in pre-sales lifecycle: discovery, requirements, design, site surveys, documentation, transition to implementation
- Proven ability designing complex commercial/enterprise solutions (multi-site, SD-WAN, DIA, Wi-Fi, managed cloud)
- Advanced knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/IP, fiber optics, MPLS, routing and Wi-Fi; routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, static)
- Ability to translate requirements into scalable, secure, and cost-effective designs with clear docs
- Strong consultative communication, presentation, problem-solving, project management, and relationship-building skills
- Preferred: 7+ years in relevant roles and experience with managed services or cloud infrastructure
- Certifications and vendor experience (CCNA, CCNP, VMware, AWS, Azure, Dell, Fortinet, Palo Alto) or equivalent
