Overview As Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead design teams to deliver world-class mechanical solutions for pharma and life sciences facilities. You guide projects from concept to design completion, balancing design needs with budget and client requirements. You shape equipment specifications, vendor interfaces, and the overall project plan, while ensuring quality, safety, and timely delivery. This role offers meaningful impact through leading complex projects, mentoring engineers, and driving client satisfaction in multidisciplinary settings.
Responsibilities- Lead mechanical design from concept to design completion according to project managers' requirements
- Create mechanical equipment specs, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations
- Review vendor drawings and coordinate with suppliers, clients, and other disciplines
- Contribute to project schedule, scope, budget, staffing, and construction planning
- Manage change orders effectively
- Apply expert mechanical knowledge to complex, non-standard solutions
- Quality review drawings and project data across CAD software
- Oversee field inspections, installations, calculations, and testing of mechanical systems
- Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications
- Build and nurture relationships with clients, customers, and contractors; pursue new opportunities
- Participate in sales/marketing efforts and identify key pursuits
- Develop cost proposals and qualification statements to meet financial targets
- Prepare and present project budgets, cost estimates, and report performance
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to the mechanical engineering team
- Ensure QA/QC adherence; coordinate with other disciplines; comply with safety policies
Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with 7 years of mechanical engineering experience (EPC project experience preferred)
- Alternative path: FE credentialed or Mechanical Engineering Technology degree from ABET with 7 years of experience (EPC experience preferred)
- Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 6 years of experience (EPC experience preferred)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE)
- Proficient in CAD and related software; strong MS Office skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to lead discipline design for large projects
- Ability to lead teams, delegate tasks, and resolve issues in a collaborative environment
