Overview Wood seeks an Electrical Journeyman for a 3-month project in Freeport, TX to install, maintain and repair electrical systems in oil-field operations. You will ensure compliance with relevant codes and support operations by keeping equipment in good working order. The role sits within Wood's energy and materials focus, contributing to safe, reliable and compliant plant performance. You will collaborate with site teams to resolve issues and uphold safety standards.
Responsibilities- Determine actions from written, diagrammatic, or verbal instructions
- Prepare written work orders for repair, maintenance, installation and testing tasks
- Inform supervisor of repairs needing higher expertise
- Determine causes of defective performance and report findings
- Replace faulty wiring and electrical components (relays, switches, motors, PCBs, position sensing devices)
- Maintain records of repairs, calibrations and tests (handwritten logs or computer databases)
- Maintain current technical knowledge of government and company policies, codes and regulations
- Interpret readings from meters, gauges, pumps, compressors, instrument readings and charts
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment
- Prepare written or computer-generated purchase orders
- Maintain proper levels of equipment inventories
- Follow safety procedures and safety data
- Adhere to local NEC and NEC codes

Key requirements- Oil field experience
- Must meet Texas licensing requirements for Journeyman Electrician
- Must currently have Texas journeyman license or be able to reciprocate
- Registration due within 6 months of employment
- Authorization to work in the US lawfully without sponsorship
