Overview As a Verification Specialist, you verify energy-efficient building design options for new and major renovation projects. You will review construction documents, perform field verifications, and analyze data to confirm program compliance and achieve measured energy savings. You will develop QA/QC processes, prepare comprehensive verification reports, and support clients and stakeholders with technical guidance. You will work with cross-functional teams to drive quality and ensure timely deliverables, contributing to carbon emissions reduction and cost savings for clients. Responsibilities- Lead verification activities for energy efficiency projects, including document review, field verification, and data analysis
- Evaluate project compliance with program requirements using independent judgment
- Develop and improve internal verification and QA/QC processes
- Verify energy efficiency measures by interpreting drawings, submittals, and specifications
- Conduct site inspections for complex projects and evaluate findings against criteria
- Prepare reports detailing verification findings, energy savings, and performance metrics
- Analyze data trends to identify risks and improvement opportunities
- Serve as a technical resource on verification standards and program requirements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align with program objectives
- Oversee a portfolio of projects and ensure timely, accurate deliverables
- Mentor junior staff and verification aides
- Contribute to strategic initiatives to enhance program effectiveness
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Building Science, Environmental Sustainability, or related field
- 2-5 years of experience in building energy analysis, verification, commissioning, or related field
- Knowledge of building systems and energy efficiency measures across commercial, industrial, and multifamily sectors
- Strong knowledge of electric and gas energy conservation measures, including HVAC and controls
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to apply advanced thermal/building science principles
- Familiarity with energy codes and standards (ASHRAE 90.1, 62.1, 55, 189.1)
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple projects
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and analytical tools
- Industry certifications (e.g., CEM, BEMP, LEED AP, BEAP, CxA) preferred
- 5% travel in Minnesota required
