Overview In this role you will support design efforts and traffic analysis for NY metro projects, collaborating with engineers and planners to deliver data-driven solutions that improve mobility and safety. You will work on highway, urban, and multimodal systems, contributing to design through traffic studies, signal design, and field investigations. The position combines engineering practice with hands-on development of construction documents and MOT plans in a hybrid setup near New York and Woodbury. Responsibilities- Perform operational analyses and simulations using Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM and HCS
- Prepare summaries of analyses with inputs, methodologies, results and mitigation strategies
- Apply MUTCD, NYSDOT and NYCDOT standards to signing, striping, signal warrant studies, and MPT/MOT plans
- Evaluate operational and forecast data for studies and reports
- Develop traffic signal plans (phasing, timing, detection, interconnect, controllers)
- Prepare and review construction plans, specs, estimates, and quantity calculations
- Develop MOT plans aligned with project goals and standards
- Conduct field investigations, data reviews, safety assessments, and existing condition evaluations
- Use MicroStation, ProjectWise, and MS Office to produce deliverables
- Perform design tasks from preliminary to final design under supervision of a PE
- Contribute as a member of a multidisciplinary project team
Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- 4-6 years of experience in traffic engineering, traffic signal design and highway/roadway design
- Hands-on experience in traffic analysis and traffic engineering tasks
- Traffic signal design experience with NYSDOT or other government agencies
- Experience with roadway and traffic elements and development of construction documents
- Experience with MicroStation, ProjectWise and Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with MUTCD and ITE Trip Generation Manual
- Working knowledge of Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM and HCS
