Overview As Storage/Database Lead, you shape and optimize enterprise data systems for a national security program. You will lead database design, performance tuning, security, and DBaaS initiatives, partnering with cross-functional teams to sustain mission-critical data services. You manage multiple DB systems, enforce policies, and mentor the team while driving platform modernization. The role offers the chance to influence secure data storage at scale in a TS/SCI environment with Poly readiness.
Responsibilities- Implement and optimize database systems supporting customer infrastructure
- Maintain DB operation, physical design, and performance tuning
- Review designs, backups, and enhancements; ensure security and integrity controls
- Formulate DB management policies; monitor activity and utilization
- Administer multiple DBMS (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server) and enforce standards
- Develop and audit SQL, procedures, and data modifications
- Schedule database projects, backups, replication across sites
- Support SQL and web-based database development; create high-level reports
- Maintain database directory and document interactions for platform modernization
- Manage data storage systems, views, copybooks, and data security permissions
- Design storage solutions, lead projects, and mentor team
- Provide guidance on system modernization and DBaaS readiness
- Oversee data availability, performance, and regulatory compliance
Key requirements- Active TS/SCI clearance with ability to obtain Poly
- 12+ years with BS or 10+ years with MS; degree in CS/IT or related field preferred
- Proven Database Administrator experience
- Strong problem-solving and QA knowledge
- Ability to work independently and in teams; effective communication with management
- Familiarity with full product development lifecycle
