Overview

In this role you will support and lead water resources and stormwater projects across scales, from federal flood risk work to municipal drainage plans. You'll collaborate with coastal engineering experts and partners to advance resilience and nature-based approaches. The position offers growth of our Northern California resilience group and regional expansion, with opportunities to apply advanced modeling and regulatory knowledge. You will impact project delivery through cross-team coordination and client engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Perform and oversee numerical modelling and engineering calculations for flood risk, system capacity, and mitigation under current and future conditions
  • Support analyses for storm surge, tidal and rainfall-driven flooding, and sea level rise with phased implementation approaches
  • Prepare and oversee analyses, plans, specs, and cost estimates for flood risk management, coastal resilience, stormwater, and drainage projects
  • Develop and apply hydrologic, hydraulic, and hydrodynamic models (1D/2D riverine, urban drainage, coastal systems)
  • Create technical memoranda, reports, exhibits, and presentations to document analyses and findings
  • Lead and participate in technical coordination with project teams, internal disciplines, subcontractors, and government agencies
  • Coordinate with clients and agencies across municipal, state, and federal levels, aligning with floodplain management and coastal permitting
  • Contribute to decision-making on feasibility, alternatives, costs, and constructability
  • Coordinate task-level work and collaborate across offices; travel as needed
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • 5 - 10+ years of water resources / stormwater experience
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) required
  • Professional Engineer licensure or ability to obtain in California within 6 months (preferred)
  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) preferred
  • Experience with floodplain mapping, FEMA regulations, and stormwater/urban drainage design
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM/XPSWMM/PCSWMM, InfoWorks ICM, ESRI GIS; coding with Python/MATLAB preferred
