Staff Manufacturing Engineer, Process and Automation

Overview

In this role you will lead the development and qualification of manufacturing processes and automation for electronic modules, ensuring scalable, efficient production that aligns with MSEI's quality and innovation goals. You will collaborate with design, manufacturing, and customers to validate processes and enable smooth transitions from development to production. You'll tackle optimization, MES integration, and equipment implementation to improve yields and capacity, with a focus on reliability and continuous improvement. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role at the heart of our manufacturing advances in implantable medical devices.

Responsibilities
  • Lead manufacturing process development
  • Develop and perform experiments/DOEs to optimize and qualify new processes
  • Identify and implement automation, semi-automation, and handling improvement opportunities
  • Define requirements and specifications for processes and equipment
  • Model and simulate manufacturing flows
  • Specify, evaluate, select, and implement new equipment
  • Identify and implement optimization of equipment or process performance for efficiency and capacity
  • Integrate Manufacturing Execution System (MES) with manufacturing equipment
  • Develop and deploy performance information systems based on MES or interface software
  • Specify and execute installation, operation, and production qualification plans
  • Assess, specify and deploy process control procedures
  • Lead technical activities for simple to complex processes often on critical processes or systems
  • Develop new and innovative ideas that show competitive promise
Key requirements
  • Bachelor in Mechanical or Materials Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing (SMT preferred)
  • Experience with Statistical methodologies (DOE) for problem solving and optimization
  • Knowledge of materials used in electronics manufacturing
  • Experience in automated equipment implementation and support
  • Automated assembly equipment experience
  • Machine programming experience
  • Qualification procedures experience
  • Project management experience
  • Experience creating and managing project plans
  • Ability to develop and present proposals to peers and management
  • Understanding of problem-solving methodologies
  • Ability to work with all levels of the company
  • Strategic development skills
  • Equipment and process roadmaps
  • Ability to identify equipment / automation solutions
  • Ability to contribute to manufacturing strategy
