Overview As Accounting Manager at Clayco, you will lead the Project Accounting team to ensure accurate, timely owner billings and sound project financial management. You will partner with Operations and Accounting leadership to apply policies, improve processes, and support audits. You'll manage 1-2 project portfolios hands-on while building a collaborative, growth-oriented team. This role combines leadership with deep construction accounting expertise to drive reliable project outcomes and continuous improvement. You will work in a fast-paced, design-build environment that values coordination and precision.

Responsibilities- Lead, coach and develop Project Accounting team members
- Ensure owner billings are accurate, complete, and timely per contractual requirements
- Review complex billing items and guide the team on issues
- Manage Project Accounting for 1-2 projects to maintain hands-on knowledge
- Oversee Preconstruction billings and review costs for accuracy
- Review Work in Process, variances, and provide financial commentary
- Oversee intercompany reconciliation and month-end close
- Maintain knowledge of systems and internal controls; support audits and system enhancements
- Participate in special projects and training initiatives
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 10+ years of accounting experience in construction
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory/people management experience
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting (job cost, WIP, owner billing, revenue recognition, AR/AP, closeout)
- Ability to develop employees and manage competing priorities
