Overview In this role you shape and protect Adobe's patent portfolio, working with engineers, researchers, and executives to implement a robust IP strategy. You'll coordinate with legal teams on licensing, standardization, and transactional deals, while guiding external counsel to maintain high portfolio quality. Responsibilities- Manage a world-class patent portfolio and outside counsel to meet quality standards and business goals
- Develop IP strategies for product teams to secure and protect IP areas
- Educate researchers and engineers on patent/IP issues
- Counsel internal clients on IP risk and resolution strategies
- Negotiate patent licenses and joint collaboration agreements
- Advise on open source issues, standards participation, and IP provisions in various agreements
- Evaluate and negotiate patent demands and third-party licensing
- Assess potential patent acquisitions
- Identify opportunities to incorporate AI tools into IP workflows
Key requirements- J.D. degree and active bar membership
- Patent bar membership
- 5-8 years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution, patent licensing, and IP counseling
- Experience with IP pre-litigation or litigation is a plus
- Excellent understanding of software architecture and AI/ML
- Experience with business strategy, third-party issues, and standards is a plus
