Principal Power Electronics Engineer

Overview

In this role you will design and develop precision analog and power electronics for diverse applications, from power conversion to radiation-hardened designs. You will architect, simulate, lay out, and test circuits while supporting the full lifecycle from planning to sustainment. You'll work with cross-functional teams to meet sponsor needs, manage risks, and drive impactful electrical engineering solutions. This position offers exposure to mission-driven projects at a renowned R&D organization and opportunities to shape advanced electronics architectures.

Responsibilities
  • Designs new products and writes production specifications
  • Analyzes hardware configurations and verifies conformance to specs
  • Independently drives complex solutions and adapts to changing requirements
  • Acts as Subject Matter Expert for advanced electronics architectures
  • Leads proposals and engages with sponsors in business development
  • Identifies technical risks and develops mitigation strategies
  • Manages multi-disciplinary tasks with cross-functional teams and communicates status
  • Develops and shares best practices with junior engineers
  • Performs related duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience
  • Proficient in schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Circuit simulation using Spice or equivalent tools
  • System modeling with MATLAB, Simulink, or similar
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and expand technical depth
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering; advanced degree preferred
