Overview In this role you lead field engineering for transmission and distribution protection and control testing, supervise engineers and technicians on large projects, and promote a safety-first culture. You drive outage coordination, technical design, and implementation while focusing on a superior customer experience. You collaborate with external partners and internal teams to deliver reliable, compliant electrical systems and timely problem resolution. Responsibilities- Direct field engineering for construction, testing, and maintenance of relay, protection, and control schemes on substation equipment
- Plan and direct tests for the Preventative Maintenance Program
- Analyze test results and recommend corrective actions
- Provide technical guidance on outages, sequencing, and design implementation
- Ensure regulatory and company policy compliance; perform safety audits and incident reporting
- Manage performance and develop employees; conduct reviews; address grievances
- Engage with external contractors, suppliers, and ISO; on-call rotation when required
- Champion safe work practices and customer-first service
Key requirements- Bachelor in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Five or more years of experience in transmission, distribution, and power systems engineering
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Valid motor vehicle license
- Ability to travel MA/CT/NH and work emergency restoration when needed
- Experience with protection and control devices, testing equipment, and software
- Knowledge of switching and tagging; reading schematics and blueprints
- Ability to coordinate outages and ensure safety and regulatory compliance
