Overview As Store Systems Engineering Manager, you will lead software teams delivering POS and related store technology. You'll shape the engineering roadmap, architecture, and delivery for secure, scalable, cloud-native store systems in a high-volume retail setting. You will collaborate with Product, Store Operations, and security to translate store needs into robust technical solutions. You'll drive modern software practices, automation, and measurable engineering outcomes that support the business. Responsibilities- Lead software engineering teams delivering POS software and store systems across the full product lifecycle
- Define and execute the engineering roadmap for POS applications, services, integrations, APIs, and supporting platforms
- Establish technical direction and architecture for secure, reliable, scalable, and highly available POS software
- Lead design reviews, testing strategy, release planning, production support, and continuous improvement
- Partner with Product and Store Operations to translate store requirements into technical solutions and delivery plans
- Balance short-term delivery with long-term modernization, maintainability, resiliency, and TCO
- Identify risks, dependencies, resources, and timelines; communicate trade-offs to leadership
- Improve software development practices, standards, quality controls, and operational readiness
- Drive Agile/Scrum and SAFe practices from design to production
- Define and execute cloud technology strategy for Store Systems aligned with DevOps and security
- Drive CI/CD, infrastructure as code, containers, automated testing, and disciplined release management
- Collaborate with Cyber Security to implement controls, DR, resilience, and compliance
- Establish and track KPIs/OKRs for delivery, quality, reliability, and business value
- Build high-performance culture through hiring, mentoring, and knowledge sharing
- Research and evaluate technologies to improve POS performance, reliability, and efficiency
- Present delivery outcomes and recommendations to executives and stakeholders
Key requirements- 12+ years software engineering experience
- 5+ years engineering leadership experience
- Strong expertise in enterprise architecture, distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architecture, integration patterns, and secure software development
- Deep knowledge of Quality Engineering, QA Automation, and test strategy
- Advanced cloud, DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, observability, and platform engineering experience
- Leadership, stakeholder management, vendor management, budget ownership, and strategic planning
- Experience leading transaction-oriented software for high volume, low latency, highly available systems
- Proficiency with POS application services, REST APIs, integrations, data access, messaging, and event-driven workflows
- Experience modernizing legacy POS/store systems to cloud-native architectures
