Group Engineering Manager (South East Region)

Overview

In this role you lead engineering across Cranswick's East Anglia sites, shaping how we maintain safe, reliable, and cost-efficient operations. You align site engineering performance with Group standards and drive consistency, improvement, and strategic initiatives. You partner with site leadership to support production, capital projects, and supplier collaboration while upholding food safety and health and safety requirements. This role offers visibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to influence engineering standards across the Group. You will travel across the region to foster cross-site best practices and deliver measurable impact.

Responsibilities
  • Provide senior engineering leadership across multiple East Anglia sites, aligning with Group strategy and standards.
  • Improve plant and machinery efficiency and reliability, focusing on asset performance and cost of ownership models.
  • Lead and support robust preventative maintenance with minimal production disruption.
  • Coordinate group-led engineering purchasing, supporting cost-effective sourcing and supplier alignment.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, HACCP/BRC, and health & safety across all sites.
  • Collaborate with site leadership on performance, continuous improvement, and capital/build projects.
  • Share best practices and drive consistent standards through cross-site communication.
  • Support group-level CI initiatives and deputise for the Group Engineering Director on projects when required.
Key requirements
  • Proven experience leading an engineering function at a senior or group level, ideally in food manufacturing or fast-paced industrial environments.
  • Strong background in strategic engineering leadership with multi-site experience.
  • Solid knowledge of HACCP, BRC, and engineering compliance in regulated settings.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
  • Commercial and financial acumen, including budgets, suppliers, and value-driven purchasing.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills for balancing priorities across sites.
  • Collaborative leadership that develops teams and drives high performance.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across East Anglia and occasionally to Hull/Yorkshire.
