Construction Project Manager - Transmission & Distribution (Mid-Atlantic Region)

Overview

As a Construction Project Manager, you lead EPC and Design-Build electrification projects-transmission lines, substations, and distribution infrastructure. You guide cross-functional teams through the full lifecycle, ensuring safety, on-schedule delivery, and quality/contract compliance. You collaborate with engineering, procurement, and field leadership to optimize project execution and drive continuous improvement. This role offers meaningful impact by shaping construction delivery for critical utility assets.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the construction management team, promoting best practices, safety, planning, and execution
  • Develop and improve construction management processes, templates, and reporting tools
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and document safety, quality, environmental, and constructability observations
  • Identify scope gaps, constructability, coordination, and scheduling challenges
  • Support pre-construction sequencing and outage planning, project kickoff and coordination meetings
  • Oversee safety, quality, contracts, subcontracts, and project controls across multiple projects
  • Manage contractor and supplier performance, change management, and procurement planning
  • Coordinate engineering deliverables, subcontracting, and client interface; manage risk reviews and legal consultations
  • Prepare and present progress and financial reports to stakeholders; manage invoicing and cost control
  • Oversee permit compliance, documentation, and project closeout including turnover, warranty, and recordkeeping
  • Mentor and train project teams, manage staffing, and develop labor agreements as needed
  • Manage field crew logistics, equipment, and materials, ensuring compliance with safety and performance requirements
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in construction, construction management, engineering, or related field; 7 years of relevant project management experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control, and project management software (preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and large workloads in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, process, transportation, T&D, or water industries is preferred
  • Fundamental understanding of GAAP; ability to meet driving requirements
  • Availability to travel up to 50%
