Overview In this role you will help design and certify artificial-gravity space habitats as part of Vast's Haven program. You will lead technical reviews, guide test campaigns, and ensure reliability for human-rated flight systems. You'll guard engineering standards and support cross-functional teams to accelerate safe, resilient designs. The position sits in Long Beach and supports a fast-paced, milestone-driven program with real-world impact in space infrastructure.

Responsibilities- Lead milestone design reviews and risk gates with clear guidance
- Oversee qualification and test completeness for flight systems
- Evaluate design and operational changes to safeguard technical integrity
- Architect and guard engineering standards, design guides, and review frameworks
- Support and elevate engineering teams across design, build, integration, and test
- Capture lessons learned and strengthen future standards
- Build tools and automation to enable fast design trade-off analysis
- Coordinate with configuration/change management and internal software for traceability
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
- 7+ years of experience in responsible engineering, design ownership, systems integration, test engineering, or reliability-focused development
- Experience conducting design reviews, qualification reviews, or major change assessments
- Strong communicator and collaborative leader with high emotional intelligence and diplomacy
