Overview In this role you will provide design and engineering guidance on projects, acting as the design expert in meetings and ensuring engineering standards are upheld. You will support other departments, lead a small engineering team, and stay current with industry trends. You'll manage conceptual design for projects, perform complex calculations, and resolve construction-phase design issues. Responsibilities- Provide design and engineering support to other departments as needed
- Partner with team to ensure engineering standards are maintained and followed
- Manage conceptual design for specific projects
- Prepare complex preliminary redline design layouts for estimating
- Perform complex calculations (e.g., heating/cooling loads, equipment sizing) per discipline (HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, fire protection)
- Conduct site inspections to verify construction documents and resolve design issues during construction
- Attend project team meetings as design expert
- Lead a smaller group of engineers including staffing, training, coaching and performance management
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- PE license required
- Minimum 12 years' relevant experience including at least 5 years' people management
- Expert knowledge of applicable systems design (HVAC, plumbing, etc.) and design engineering aspects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels
- Proven ability to lead an engineering group
- Strong public speaking ability
- Strong computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office (Excel)
