Principal Mechanical Engineer, Harness & Interconnect

Overview

In this role you design and verify harnessing systems for precision control actuation, applying expert knowledge to influence engineering strategies within the PCAS organization. You work on diverse mechanical design tasks, test design, and systems engineering to support hardware builds and verification. You'll mentor peers and adapt responsibilities to evolving needs, contributing to mission-critical missile programs. This position offers hands-on hardware work and access to subject matter experts to accelerate technical growth. You will operate onsite with a clear impact on safety and system performance.

Responsibilities
  • Own and autonomously deliver complex mechanical design tasks within harness and interconnect domain
  • Directly influence functional and organizational strategies beyond a single program
  • Contribute to test design, system engineering, proposals, and earned value management
  • Coach and review the work of junior professionals
  • Adapt responsibilities to current organizational needs and skill sets
  • Support design, build, integration, and verification of hardware harness systems
Key requirements
  • Degree in STEM with 8+ years of relevant experience or Advanced Degree with 5+ years experience
  • Experience designing and/or modifying harness and/or interconnect devices
  • Experience with complex systems of devices and interconnects
  • Familiarity with harness requirements, architecture, verification, and safety/environmental compliance
  • Ability to produce first-order electrical analysis (DC resistance, voltage drop)
  • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5)
  • Strong problem-solving for constrained spaces and dynamic movements
