Overview

In this role you will lead asset-level and portfolio strategies across PBSH and market-rate multifamily assets, shaping value from development through disposition. You will partner across Development, Acquisitions, Capital Markets, and Operations to ensure performance aligns with underwriting and investor objectives. You'll manage risk, drive capital discipline, and guide repositioning and lease-up efforts to protect asset value. This is a senior, cross-functional leadership position with a strong emphasis on analysis, communication, and execution.

Responsibilities
  • Own and drive asset-level and portfolio-level business plans from development through disposition
  • Partner with Development, Acquisitions, and Capital Markets during deal origination, due diligence, refinancings, recapitalizations, and major investment decisions
  • Provide independent asset management perspective on market assumptions, operating performance, rent strategy, income/expense projections, capital requirements, and value creation opportunities
  • Lead strategy for underperforming assets and special situations, coordinating with lenders, investors, operators, and internal stakeholders
  • Serve as a senior owner representative across lease-up, stabilized, transitioning, and repositioning assets
  • Oversee asset performance against approved underwriting, budgets, and long-term value creation objectives
  • Identify risks early, diagnose performance gaps, and drive corrective actions to improve NOI and asset value
  • Guide execution of repositioning plans, stabilization strategies, leasing recovery plans, and 90-day action plans
  • Lead and coordinate supporting team members within Asset Management and Operations, setting priorities and accountability
  • Provide strategic direction and owner-level oversight of third-party property management across PBSH and market-rate portfolio
  • Evaluate operator performance focusing on revenue, leasing velocity, renewals, expenses, resident experience, and operating discipline
  • Lead annual operating budget and multi-year capital planning with Finance, Operations, Construction, and third-party teams
  • Review and approve operating budgets, capital plans, major scope changes, and unbudgeted capex in line with policy
  • Oversee execution of underwritten and strategic capital programs with disciplined allocation
  • Communicate performance clearly to executive leadership, investors, lenders, and external stakeholders
  • Support investor diligence, asset tours, reporting, and strategic discussions as needed
  • Coordinate cross-functional resources to resolve asset issues and improve performance
  • Lead, mentor, and develop asset management team, fostering accountability and analytical rigor
Key requirements
  • 10+ years in real estate asset/investment management, acquisitions, development, or related role
  • Experience with market-rate multifamily and purpose-built student housing
  • Experience with development assets, lease-ups, and stabilization strategies preferred
  • Strong understanding of asset management, debt management, capital planning, and institutional reporting
  • Proven ability to translate financial/operational analysis into actionable strategy
  • Strong financial modeling skills; advanced Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience overseeing third-party property management and enforcing performance
  • Executive-level communication with senior leaders, investors, lenders, and stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%
