Director of Software Engineering-Data Protection & Recovery

In this role you drive data engineering strategy for the Data Protection & Recovery Product Line within IP Foundation Services, safeguarding enterprise data assets. You lead large-scale data pipelines, governance, and resiliency initiatives across platforms, partnering with engineering, product, architecture, and operations teams. You balance strategic direction with practical execution to deliver scalable data solutions that meet compliance and risk requirements. You will shape the adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices and mentor engineering talent, contributing to the firm's data protection and recovery capabilities with impact across the organization.

• Design, develop, and implement large-scale data engineering solutions for the Data Protection & Recovery product line
• Advance data lineage, quality, completeness, governance, and lifecycle management across multiple platforms
• Collaborate with engineering, product, architecture, infrastructure, and operations to resolve data challenges across upstream and downstream systems
• Set technical strategy, architecture direction, and engineering standards for data initiatives
• Lead teams building scalable data pipelines, datasets, services, and reporting capabilities
• Deliver reusable technical solutions across businesses, platforms, and domains
• Drive engineering excellence with modern development practices, automation, resiliency, and operational rigor
• Influence senior technology leaders while balancing strategy and execution
• Ensure compliance with security, risk, resiliency, and regulatory requirements
• Lead adoption of AI-enabled engineering and automation to improve delivery speed and quality
• Develop, coach, and mentor engineering talent and foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

• Formal training or equivalent in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
• 10+ years of applied software engineering experience delivering complex technology solutions
• Hands-on software engineering with Java, Python, or other modern languages
• Experience building large-scale data platforms, data pipelines, and distributed systems
• Knowledge of data lineage, quality, governance, metadata management, and lifecycle management
• Experience managing large datasets and building data lake/analytics solutions
• Strong problem-solving for complex technical and data challenges
• Experience across multiple applications with understanding of upstream/downstream dependencies
• Experience leading cross-functional teams of technologists
• Practical cloud-native engineering experience
• Knowledge of responsible AI practices and governance in software and data environments
