Overview In this Building Engineer role, you oversee maintenance and safety for FDA-regulated Red Cross facilities, starting from Dedham with statewide travel. You'll advise on building systems, design, and repair work, while ensuring regulatory compliance and timely maintenance. You'll act as the on-site expert for facilities, coordinating preventive and corrective tasks and safety programs. Responsibilities- Serve as on-site subject matter expert for building engineering and advise on building systems, electricity, equipment repair, and general maintenance
- Perform maintenance across mechanical, electrical/electronic, hydraulics, carpentry, or machine services and assist with operations and troubleshooting
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC and related equipment
- Ensure regulatory operations meet minimum compliance standards and maintain related training
- Enforce safety policies and conduct facility safety and fire extinguisher inspections, schedule drills, manage security access and surveillance
- Oversee and maintain the work-order system, coordinate maintenance, and dispatch for emergencies
- Provide admin support for preventive maintenance schedules, supplies, records, and work-order submissions; maintain equipment logs
- Handle regulated supplies, bio-waste pickups, and destruction manifests as needed
- Travel as required with valid driver's license
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree or equivalent trade school certificate
- Current Universal Refrigerant license, OSHA 10, and HVAC certification
- ASHE membership or ability to obtain and maintain preferred
- Minimum 7 years of related experience in laboratory, hospital, SDS, or CGMP environments
- Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision
- Strong knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems; basic knowledge of emergency power generators
- Ability to read MEP and wiring diagrams
