Overview

Senior Thermal Engineer to lead spacecraft thermal analyses across multiple programs. You will own integrated thermal models, develop innovative analysis methods, and mentor engineers while guiding major design decisions. This role interfaces with customers, reviews programmatic decisions, and supports testing and anomaly investigations. You will shape thermal solutions during concept to flight and contribute to long-term capability development.

Responsibilities
  • Lead thermal analyses influencing major vehicle design decisions
  • Own architecture, validation, and maintenance of integrated spacecraft thermal models
  • Develop innovative analytical methods and automation to improve capability
  • Lead thermal trade studies across mission environments, propulsion effects, and cryogenics
  • Define thermal analysis strategies from concept to flight
  • Organize and lead vehicle-level thermal vacuum testing
  • Serve as point of contact for thermal control during launch operations
  • Lead model validation using thermal vacuum, qualification, acceptance, and flight data
  • Mentor and technical review of thermal engineers across levels
  • Represent Thermal Engineering in customer reviews and program design reviews
  • Provide technical leadership during anomaly investigations and rapid-response efforts
  • Influence best practices and long-term capability development
  • Support hiring and development of the thermal engineering team
Key requirements
  • B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field
  • Experience in spacecraft thermal analysis
  • Expert knowledge of spacecraft heat transfer and thermal control systems
  • Extensive experience with Thermal Desktop and industry-standard software
  • Record of leading thermal analyses through design, testing, and flight
  • Experience with instrumentation and testing thermal hardware
  • Experience correlating analytical models with environmental and flight data
  • Strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or similar
  • Excellent technical leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to scope, execute, defend, and communicate complex analyses
