Overview In this role you will drive product development and strategic category initiatives to meet Sprouts' standards and maximize department profitability. You will analyze trends, manage vendor relationships, and guide merchandising decisions to keep the department fresh and competitive. You'll collaborate with stores and vendors to ensure quality, pricing, and program execution, while leading training and promotional efforts. Responsibilities- Set and enforce department product standards for quality and price
- Provide data to stores to inform profitability decisions
- Create programs and training to maximize sales, margins, and minimize spoilage
- Establish and manage inventory processes for accurate accounting
- Develop and implement regional/global pricing to meet budgets
- Manage budget, sales, gross margins, and profit goals
- Communicate weekly merchandising plans and directives
- Oversee department marketing plans and ads
- Develop training to grow product knowledge
- Keep product mix fresh with new items
- Respond to vendor/customer issues promptly
- Ensure compliance with regulations on product freshness, safety, and sanitation
- Develop strategies to stay at the cutting edge of the industry
- Determine staffing requirements and participate in hiring/training
- Coordinate vendor participation for new store openings and resets
- Provide guidance on store layouts, opening orders, and training
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and act as liaison between stores and vendors
Key requirements- Preferred Bachelor's degree in Business or related field
- Minimum five years of departmental experience, merchandising or management preferred
- Buying/negotiating experience required
- Long-term strategic and financial planning skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet
- Ability to handle confidential information and meet deadlines
- Understanding of P/L statements, general ledgers, and margins
