Overview

As an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer, you will design and evaluate control systems for water and wastewater facilities, collaborating with a multidiscipline team to deliver I&C solutions. You will plan process control strategies, develop automation designs, and support construction through documentation and field activities. The role involves coordinating I&C deliverables with process, mechanical, and electrical disciplines, and guiding projects from concept through commissioning. Responsibilities
  • Control systems engineering and process control strategy planning for water and wastewater facilities
  • Automation design, network architecture diagrams, and P&ID development
  • Construction support, field reviews, inspections, commissioning, and performance testing
  • Preparation of conceptual reports, memorandums, and technical specifications
  • Coordination with process, mechanical, and electrical disciplines; I&C deliverables management
  • Procurement support including instrument datasheets and submittal reviews
  • Development of control diagrams, cause-and-effect diagrams, and I/O scheduling
  • Project scoping, budgeting, staffing plans, and safety compliance
Key requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering; MS preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of instrumentation and controls experience
  • PE license in Controls Systems or Electrical Engineering in California, or ability to obtain reciprocity or within 18 months
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Mentoring ability and experience working with dispersed project teams
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and travel (occasional international travel possible)
