Overview As Director of Housing and Residence Life, you provide strategic leadership for the university's residential housing program, overseeing operations, occupancy, programming, student conduct, budgeting, staff development, and emergency coordination. You partner across Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Facilities, IT, and Campus Safety to deliver high-quality living-learning experiences that support student engagement, safety, and success. You will drive long-range planning and continuously improve housing systems and policies. This role is pivotal to fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging residential community.
Responsibilities- Lead and oversee all housing and residence life operations
- Manage housing programs for on-campus residents
- Forecast and analyze occupancy, retention, and utilization trends
- Develop policies for housing applications, contracts, room assignments, waivers, and occupancy management
- Set long-range goals and strategic initiatives for Housing and Residence Life
- Direct departmental budgeting and fiscal stewardship
- Oversee housing management software systems, training, and reporting
- Coordinate room assignments and meal plan processes per regs
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff
- Develop residential programming enhancing student engagement, academics, leadership, and community standards
- Collaborate with Academic Affairs/Student Affairs on living-learning opportunities and co-curriculars
- Oversee student conduct processes and coordinate with university officials on behavioral concerns
- Serve on committees such as the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT)
- Respond to emergencies and critical incidents; participate in on-call rotations
- Coordinate with Campus Safety, local law enforcement, and emergency responders for safety
- Coordinate access control and housing security with IT and Campus Safety
- Collaborate with Facilities for maintenance, capital projects, and readiness of residence halls
- Arrange housing for conferences, camps, and special events
- Prepare occupancy, retention, student satisfaction, and effectiveness reports
- Ensure compliance with university policies, state regulations, and federal laws
