Overview

As a Process Engineer at Lilly Medicine Foundry, you will support pilot-plant operations for API synthesis, helping to establish scalable, compliant manufacturing processes. You will work with cross-functional teams to optimize heat and mass transfer, assess risks, and ensure equipment and procedures meet quality and regulatory standards. The role is part of a startup initiative for a greenfield manufacturing site, shaping the foundation for GMP production and future clinical-scale capabilities. Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assessment and support for production operations, emphasizing process knowledge, equipment capability, and asset management
  • Perform impact and risk assessments for unit operations and scale-up considerations
  • Learn reactor lab and plant design, including automation recipes and procedures
  • Ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and adherence to Quality System and cGMP
  • Model, simulate, or experimentally verify heat and mass transfer during process scale-up
  • Engage with HSE, QA, Tech Services, Operations, Automation, Maintenance, and Manufacturing
  • Prepare and review technical reports and regulatory submissions; maintain records and notebooks
  • Identify quality issues proactively and drive continuous improvement
  • Develop or review project plans and timetables
Key requirements
  • BS in Chemical Engineering (MS preferred) with at least 2 years' experience in pharma/biotech/CMO supporting API manufacturing or development
  • Authorized to work in the United States full-time (no visa sponsorship provided)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective written and oral communication for diverse audiences
