Overview In this role you will lead the mechanical design, analysis, and production transition of weapon systems and flight-critical aerospace hardware. You will work across design, analysis, testing, and manufacturing teams to ensure survivability and performance through full flight profiles. You'll drive cross-functional coordination, risk management, and technical briefings with customers and leadership. Responsibilities- Lead mechanical design and analysis for weapon system hardware and missile sub-assemblies across design, fabrication, integration and testing phases
- Perform structural, thermal and CFD analyses to validate survivability and thermal management across flight profiles
- Define and manage hardware test plans including survivability, environmental qualification and verification
- Evaluate airframe structures, radome/window materials, electronics housings, and interfaces for manufacturability and durability
- Lead cross-functional engineering teams for weapon systems flight demonstrations
- Coordinate subsystem trade studies on performance, cost, form factor, margin and integration risk
- Serve as technical interface with customers, program management and senior leadership; prepare technical briefings and milestone reviews
- Lead risk identification and mitigation planning with technical and schedule risk assessments and recommendations
- Support flight demonstrations by monitoring tests, analyzing post-flight data and generating test reports
- Review vendor capabilities for performance, cost and readiness for prototype and production builds
- Support transition of prototype hardware into manufacturable production configurations
- Mentor junior engineers in mechanical design practices and procedures
