Overview In this role you will develop life cycle cost estimates for DoD weapon system programs and work with a cross-functional team to translate technical data into cost insights. You'll analyze schedules, risks, and software progress to provide decision-ready cost analyses and support program managers in contract strategy. The position blends quantitative modeling with collaboration across disciplines, offering impact on major defense programs.
Responsibilities- Develop life cycle cost estimates for DoD weapon system programs
- Analyze historical data, develop cost estimating relationships and regression models
- Assess technology trends and their cost impact
- Review software program progress tools (JIRA, TFS) to derive metrics for PMs
- Interview functional experts to inform estimating methodologies
- Create risk distributions for cost drivers and cost-estimating equations
- Analyze program schedules and quantify schedule uncertainty
- Study complex modern software development programs to derive metrics
- Build spreadsheet-based cost models for decision analysis
- Apply statistics to assess probability of budget/schedule success
- Conduct business case analyses, trade studies, and economic analyses
- Assist program managers in contract strategies and program plans
- Proficient in ACEIT Suite (ACE, POST, COSTAT) and Excel
- Experience with data science, ML, visualization, and BI tools is a plus
- Experience with cost estimation for Agile software development and SWP programs
- Experience with SEER Software (SEER-SEM, SEER-H, SEER-IT), COCOMO, TruePlanning
Key requirements- Cost analysis experience or relevant quantitative analysis background
- Proficient at analyzing datasets and building statistical models
- Able to gather programmatic/technical data from multiple teams and translate into cost impacts
- Strong problem-solving skills, capable in ambiguous environments
- Lead financial-focused discussions with cross-functional teams
- Ability to work on multiple projects and take direction from various sources
- Proficient in ACEIT Software Suite and Excel
