Overview In this role you will own ITS and electrical scopes from planning through construction and closeout on heavy civil/highway projects. You will coordinate traffic signals, roadway lighting, ITS systems, communications, VMS, conduit and related electrical work with project teams and stakeholders. You will manage submittals, RFIs and documentation, ensuring CDOT requirements are met and plans are adhered to. You'll troubleshoot field and design issues and help deliver safe, compliant, on-time project outcomes. This position offers hands-on exposure to transportation ITS and electrical systems within a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
Responsibilities- Own assigned ITS and electrical scopes from planning to closeout
- Coordinate work with traffic signals, roadway lighting, ITS devices, communications, VMS, conduit, tolling and loops
- Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, foremen, subcontractors and suppliers
- Coordinate with CDOT, designers, inspectors, utility companies and other stakeholders
- Manage submittals, RFIs, documentation, material approvals and other project requirements
- Review plans and specifications to flag conflicts before field impact
- Track progress, quantities, schedules and scope changes
- Troubleshoot field and design issues with relevant teams to find practical solutions
- Ensure work complies with project plans, specifications and CDOT requirements
Key requirements- Heavy civil, highway or transportation construction experience
- CDOT project experience and knowledge of CDOT specifications, processes and submittal requirements
- Strong ITS and/or electrical construction experience
- Experience coordinating with subcontractors and field operations
- Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications
- Strong organization and documentation skills
- Independent with ownership mindset and end-to-end issue resolution
- Strong communication skills across craft, field leadership, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors and owner
- Previous Project Engineer experience and ability to operate beyond entry level
