Overview As a Protection and Controls Engineer at AECOM, you'll support Grid Modernization within the Energy practice, delivering protection and control design and studies across transmission, distribution, and renewables. You'll mentor engineers, drive design schedules, and contribute to projects from concept through commissioning. Your work supports resilient, cleaner energy infrastructure for a global client base. Responsibilities- Lead electrical engineering design on assigned projects
- Mentor other electrical engineers in the High Voltage/Power team
- Develop design schedules and budgets with Project Engineer/Project Manager
- Perform power system studies and protection settings coordination
- Generate basis of design documentation for protection settings and relay configurations
- Support projects during construction, start-up, and commissioning
- Review peers' engineering work
- Attend client meetings
- Occasional travel to client/project sites
- Mentor early career engineers and conduct internal training sessions
- Lead engineers on projects of all sizes; act as technical advisor as needed
- Provide specialized technical input and develop study/design procedures
- Participate in interdisciplinary project deliverable reviews
- Develop construction cost estimates and timelines for engineering work
- Apply full PS&E discipline knowledge to project tasks
- Perform quality control of design calculations or drawings
- Prepare technical specification sections
- Contribute to engineering budget and schedule planning
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
