Overview

In this on-site, client-facing role, you will manage referral send-out work for Mayo Clinic's client labs, serving as a resource to client staff and ensuring accurate specimen handling and timely processing. You will coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, troubleshoot submission issues, and support LIS-related tasks and quality metrics. This position offers exposure to laboratory operations, client service, and process improvements within a hospital laboratory setting. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain confidentiality and safety compliance, contributing to high-quality patient-centered outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Manage client referral send-out work and specimen flow (receipt, verification, handling, aliquoting, processing, shipping)
  • Provide onsite customer service and support to client clinical laboratory staff
  • Coordinate with internal/external stakeholders and resolve specimen submission issues
  • Monitor reports and assist clients with billing, LIS test builds, and Joint Test Catalog maintenance
  • Support quality metrics, staff training of send-out personnel, and MCS supply inventory maintenance
  • LIS maintenance, documentation, and end-user feedback activities as assigned by client and MCS
Key requirements
  • High school diploma/GED with 3 years relevant experience OR Bachelor/Associate degree with 1 year relevant experience
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Organized with strong prioritization skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Knowledge of safety requirements for handling chemicals and infectious agents
