Overview

In this role you design, evaluate, and support electrical systems for midstream facilities, driving reliable and safe operations. You work with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, guiding projects from concept to startup. You'll perform power and control system studies, optimize distribution, and review contractor designs to meet Targa specifications. The position offers impactful work on large-scale facilities with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Specify, evaluate, and select electrical equipment for operations and major projects
  • Prepare technical bids and evaluate proposals
  • Analyze electrical designs: power generation, distribution, control systems, lighting, emergency power, grounding, safety shutdowns
  • Negotiate utility contracts with outside vendors
  • Provide technical reports, studies, NEC interpretations, and contract recommendations
  • Prepare/review short circuit, motor starting, voltage drop, load shedding, and relay coordination studies
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and safety/environmental requirements
  • Develop electrical specifications and area classification drawings
  • Optimize power distribution for energy conservation
  • Coordinate with outside engineering contractors to ensure conformance with Targa specs
  • Investigate issues with facilities and their electrical/control systems
  • Prepare budgetary and AFE estimates; supervise field projects and monitor budgets
  • Communicate with operations, construction, EHS, supply chain, and other stakeholders
  • Identify and pursue continuous improvement projects to enhance safety, reliability, and operating margin
  • Manage asset engineering to support customers; review project cost estimates and schedules; support startup and commissioning
  • Develop asset short- and long-term CAPEX forecasts
Key requirements
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, API codes and standards
  • Willingness to travel at least 25%
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong written and verbal communication
