Responsibilities- Lead electrical design work on assigned projects under guidance from senior staff
- Collaborate with Project Engineer and Project Manager to develop design schedules and budgets
- Design solar PV and BESS systems (array layouts, DC sizing, equipment layouts, interconnections) for rooftop, carport, and ground-mounted sites
- Model energy production for PV and BESS systems
- Develop construction and equipment specifications
- Perform engineering calculations (NEC voltages, conductor sizing, protection, interconnections, voltage drop, conduit sizing)
- Create construction drawings (one-lines, network diagrams) and support EPC activities
- Estimate PV/BESS system costs, perform payback analyses
- Design DC and low-to-medium voltage distribution
- Support projects through full lifecycle: feasibility, design, bid, construction, start-up, commissioning
- Participate in and present at meetings, with occasional travel
Key requirements- BA/BS in Electrical Engineering or engineering-related discipline with 4 years of experience or equivalent
- Experience in design and integration of utility-scale renewable and battery storage systems
- Proficient in Homer, NREL SAM, ForgeSolar, Helioscope
- MV AC collection system design experience
- Protection and controls experience
- Knowledge of ETAP and/or SKM for power system modeling
- Familiar with NEC and related codes (IBC, NFPA 855) and utility practices
- Strong written and verbal communication; ability to lead engineering tasks
- Experience on full EPC/Design-Build projects; financial estimation and ROI calculations
- Special design experience: floating PV, agrivoltaics, fuel cells, supercapacitors
