Overview

In this role you apply standard design engineering techniques to small projects or portions of larger work, owning coordination, analyses, and documentation to meet schedules, budgets, and client/code requirements. You serve as Engineer of Record on assigned work and collaborate with senior staff to develop design concepts. You will coordinate with disciplines, attend client meetings, and support QA/QC, site visits, and progress tracking. Responsibilities
  • Apply design engineering methods to small projects or segments of larger work while owning coordination and documentation
  • Assume responsible charge and act as Engineer of Record on assigned work
  • Develop design concepts with senior input and perform analyses using industry software
  • Coordinate designs with disciplines, determine equipment needs, and draft operating procedures
  • Attend meetings with owners, clients, and architects; document decisions and risks
  • Review work of designers/EITs for technical accuracy and provide feedback
  • Lead or participate in site visits to monitor construction and verify alignment with specs
  • Coordinate with authorities and utilities to ensure compliance with standards
  • Identify and resolve model/drawing collisions; manage clash detection workflows
  • Develop discipline manhour budgets and track progress to schedule/budget; report to project manager
  • Review shop drawings and respond to contractor inquiries during bid/construction
  • Assist in QA/QC plan development and contribute to technical docs, proposals, and client presentations
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and codes; participate in professional organizations
  • Mentor engineers, designers, and EITs; contribute to performance reviews as needed
  • Assist Project Manager with selected project duties when requested
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college
  • Four years of applicable experience in discipline design and analysis
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • Microsoft Office Suite knowledge (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Proficiency with industry software (Revit and AutoCAD)
  • Knowledge of discipline-specific tools (e.g., Trace700, SKM)
  • Knowledge of codes and regulations; ability to read drawings and coordinate inputs
  • Strong technical writing, interpersonal collaboration, and communication skills
