Overview As VP, Global Legal Affairs CI, you will lead and shape the global legal, compliance, ethics, governance and risk program for Advanced Bionics. You will act as chief legal advisor to the AB President and senior leadership, guiding strategic transactions, regulatory matters, product safety, and AI governance in a highly regulated Class III medical device environment. You will partner with cross-functional teams to enable compliant, ethical, and growth-focused execution and act as a responsible AI advocate. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership of a global in-house function.

Responsibilities- Advise the CEO and Leadership Team on legal strategy aligned with corporate goals and growth
- Develop and manage global legal strategy, operating model, and budget; lead in-house team and external counsel
- Provide counsel on FDA/regulatory, product lifecycle, labeling, clinical studies, and post-market activities
- Oversee product quality, recalls, field actions, and crisis response; manage liability exposure
- Lead litigation, investigations, and dispute resolution; optimize cost-effective outcomes
- Drive enterprise compliance and ethics, align with healthcare laws (FDA, AKS, False Claims Act, HIPAA, FCPA)
- Oversee employment law matters including California employment law and HR-related risk
- Govern AI governance and digital innovation, ensuring data privacy, IP protection, cybersecurity and regulatory compliance
- Support corporate governance activities; act as Corporate Secretary and Co-Chair Compliance & Risk Committees
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with Regulatory Affairs, Quality, R&D, Clinical, Operations, and Communications
Key requirements- 20+ years of legal experience in healthcare, regulatory, and transactional matters
- In-house experience with increasing scope and leadership responsibility
- Strong corporate generalist background in healthcare/medtech with governance exposure
- Experience leading teams and contributing to senior leadership decisions
- Ability to negotiate, manage complex matters, and operate under pressure
- Knowledge of healthcare fraud and abuse laws, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and related compliance
- Experience with medical and commercial insurance reimbursement matters
- Excellent judgment, ambiguity tolerance, and strategic business acumen
- Strong negotiation and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage across global regulatory environments
- Juris Doctor with active bar admission (California preferred)
