Overview As a Senior Civil Project Engineer in CHA's Aviation Team, you lead planning, design, and delivery of civil infrastructure for airports and aviation facilities. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, shape technical solutions, and ensure projects meet standards and schedules. The role blends design, field observation, and client engagement to deliver impactful airport infrastructure. Responsibilities- Lead technical execution of complex civil projects from planning through construction, producing calculations, reports, plans, specs, and construction documents
- Design and oversee grading, drainage, utilities, roadways, pavements, and site development for aviation facilities
- Provide technical leadership with innovative engineering solutions while ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and client standards (FAA preferred)
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams, coordinating with planners, architects, engineers, PMs, and clients to meet scope, schedule, and budget
- Mentor junior engineers via technical guidance, design reviews, and project leadership
- Support business development through technical proposals, client presentations, and relationship building
- Perform field observations during construction to document progress and ensure conformance to plans
- Support construction administration by reviewing contractor progress, field reports, site conditions, progress meetings, and resolving technical questions
Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering; Master's preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive civil engineering experience in site design, land development, municipal infrastructure, transportation, aviation, or related horizontal projects
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Strong experience in site grading, drainage, stormwater, utilities, roadways, pavements
- Experience with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or comparable software
- Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary teams and mentoring
- Strong QA/QC, construction administration, and project delivery understanding
- Excellent verbal/written communication and client relationship skills
- Willingness to travel to project sites for observations
- Professional engineering organizations involvement is a plus
