Overview In this role you design high- and extra-high-voltage transmission lines, guide projects from concept to construction, and provide field support. You work closely with clients and the team to deliver safe, reliable line infrastructure while driving continuous improvement. This position offers leadership opportunities and exposure to HVDC and a range of engineering tools, with travel to project sites. You help shape outcomes by applying technical expertise and collaborating across disciplines.
Responsibilities- Design HV/LV transmission lines (69-500 kV) using PLS-CADD
- Prepare construction documents (plan/profile drawings, structure loading trees, foundation assemblies)
- Develop specifications and project design criteria
- Provide field support during construction
- Build and guide client relationships and mentor less experienced staff
- Occasional travel to client/project locations
- Other duties as assigned
Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program and 3 years transmission engineering experience; Consulting preferred
- Or Bachelor's Degree in Civil or related Engineering Technology with FE exam completion and 3 years transmission engineering experience; Consulting preferred
- Or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering with 2 years transmission engineering experience; Consulting preferred
- Strong knowledge of standard civil/structural engineering techniques and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCADD; hydraulic/hydrologic/pavement/transmission analysis programs
