Overview In this role you will lead manufacturing engineering for assembling and integrating electromechanical and optical systems, with a focus on scaling production to support rapid growth. You will govern optical alignment work (LCA and OTA) and drive continuous improvement across processes with cross-functional teams. Your contributions will shape production strategies, optimize workflows, and ensure on-time, high-quality delivery for mission-critical programs. This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-growing optics environment that values practical problem-solving and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities- Lead manufacturing engineering activities for electromechanical and optical assemblies
- Develop scalable processes from technical documentation and create manufacturing procedures and routers
- Lead process improvement and cost reduction projects applying lean methods
- Oversee optical alignment process optimization and production layouts
- Coordinate with design engineering to manage design changes and obsolescence issues
- Estimate and track manufacturing costs to drive Continuous Improvement
- Interface with technicians and other operations staff; back up operations manager when needed
- Support capacity planning and lab space layout for program changes
Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of relevant experience
- Graduate Degree with minimum 4 years of experience
- In lieu of a degree, minimum 10 years of related experience
- Extensive experience with optical systems (mirrors and lenses) and optical alignment principles
- Problem-solving capability
- People skills
- Ability to conduct presentations for internal/external customers
- Lean certification (Green Belt/Black Belt)
- CAD training (SolidWorks/AutoCAD)
- Knowledge of program and project management techniques and tools
