Responsibilities- Lead and/or direct mechanical and piping design activities, integrating static, rotating, piping, structural, and OEM packaged systems.
- Apply Process Safety Management requirements (MOC, HAZOP/LOPA or PHA, PSRs) throughout design and execution.
- Define, witness, and approve critical QA activities and verifications in factory and field settings.
- Own mechanical completion checklists and verify assets meet design intent and safe startup criteria.
- Serve as accountable owner for site mechanical technical documentation, including P&ID, equipment datasheets, and relief device documentation.
- Interpret and apply codes and standards to resolve conflicts and embed constructability, operability, maintainability, and lifecycle cost considerations.
- Influence project outcomes through sound technical judgment, risk-based decision making, and continuous improvement of mechanical standards.
Key requirements- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum seven years of experience in mechanical and piping design/engineering for process or chemical facilities
- Strong command of ASME B31.3 and Section VIII and relevant API standards
- Experience reviewing, accepting, and owning technical deliverables from design through commissioning
- Working knowledge of Process Safety Management and Mechanical Integrity including MOC and PSRs
- Experience managing document control workflows and maintaining accurate mechanical and piping documentation with internal and external partners
- Proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, or Plant 3D
- Strong field presence and ability to translate design intent into safe, constructible installations
- Willingness to work off-hours and weekends; able to work in plant environments and outdoors in inclement weather
