Supplier Quality Engineer

Overview

In this role you will drive supplier quality across the sourcing network, ensuring material quality aligns with standards and customer needs. You will lead audits, supplier development, and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and optimize performance. You'll collaborate with procurement, engineering, and manufacturing to reinforce compliance and cost-out outcomes. This position offers meaningful impact by shaping quality at the supplier level and advancing regulatory and industry standards.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure material quality meets standards and customer requirements through proactive QA and supplier relationships
  • Collaborate with suppliers to enhance quality management systems and ensure standards compliance
  • Conduct supplier quality audits to identify improvement opportunities
  • Drive continuous improvement at supplier sites to reduce defects
  • Lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures
  • Oversee product qualification for NPI materials and supplier setup
  • Partner with suppliers to achieve cost-out of products
  • Maintain records of supplier performance, audits, and CAPAs
  • Provide training on quality standards, tools, and techniques to suppliers
  • Collaborate with procurement, engineering, and manufacturing to align supplier quality with company goals
  • Ensure regulatory and standards compliance in supplier operations
  • Prepare and present reports on supplier quality performance to management
Key requirements
  • 3-5 years in supplier quality engineering or similar
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification (ideal) with experience applying LSSG methodologies; higher belts preferred
  • Proficiency in Six Sigma, FMEA, SPC, root cause analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to interact with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to lead and mentor supplier teams toward quality objectives
  • High attention to detail and proactive issue identification
  • Strong ethics and professionalism in supplier interactions
  • Creative approach to improving supplier quality
  • Experience with ISO 9001/13485 auditing and related certifications (preferred)
  • Strong PC skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, Minitab)
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Maximum of 50% travel to suppliers
