Overview

As Metro General Manager, you will own the performance of a large field organization across sales, operations, service, and project delivery in a metropolitan market. You drive growth, profitability, customer satisfaction, and employee engagement while developing leaders and strengthening strategic customer relationships. You will lead cross-functional teams to deliver safe, high-quality, and efficient building solutions, shaping the local market to align with Johnson Controls' growth objectives. This role offers impact at scale with a clear focus on safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Drive growth, profitability, and customer experience for the metro business
  • Develop and execute local market strategies aligned with company growth objectives
  • Own P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning
  • Improve revenue, margin, and operational efficiency across sales, service, and project delivery
  • Lead and coach cross-functional teams (sales, operations, service, project management)
  • Build executive-level relationships with customers, partners, and stakeholders
  • Support disciplined service delivery, project execution, inventory management, and cost control
  • Identify market trends and customer needs to inform business decisions
  • Develop future leaders and foster an inclusive, high-performing culture
  • Champion safety, compliance, and quality standards across all activities
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in HVAC, building automation, controls, mechanical services, construction/industrial services
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed teams and large operations
  • Proven success managing a substantial P&L and driving sustainable growth
  • Strength in strategic planning, operational leadership, and financial management
  • Experience leading sales, operations, service, and project execution functions
  • Strong executive presence and ability to influence at multiple levels
